Click here to learn about the General Assembly resolution concerning the Reconciliation offering.

Any good news to share?

I am terrified that anyone would consider putting Reconciliation under DHM.

I find it very very frustrating that resolutions like this one are passed at every Assembly but the actions of the church as a whole are not in step with the ideals. For example: In the past few years 3 people of color have resigned their positions in the General Manifestation of the church. There was almost no response to this. It seems that people of color are always ready to work for the good of the whole or expected to do so. Not one white man to my knowledge has suggested that their salary might be better spent toward the mission of the church.
It is all well and good to say you are trying to be pro-reconciling and anti-racist but it is another to actually make moves in that direction. So, saying we want more diversity in leadership while smiling and saying thank you to people of color who are stepping down for the good of the mission is just talk. I want to see action.

Dev,

I appreciate (but do not enjoy) the sharp reminder that what we do seems to fall way too short of what we promise.

Of course, many of us are far more motivated to change by pain than by success.

What kind of action do you have in mind?
